Basaglia + Rota Nodari

Architects and designers Alberto Basaglia and Natalia Rota Nodari founded their associated studio in 1997. Their first design project, the Antennati collection for YDF, won first prize in the Young & Design competition in 1999. Their practice has ranged from environmental and industrial-building recovery to exhibition environments, food design, architecture and furniture.

Their approach is rooted in close collaboration with the manufacturer: understanding a company’s production capabilities and identity, then using design to strengthen them. That philosophy has led relationships that began with individual products to expand into broader brand and image direction. Their S’mesh seating family for Diemmebi was selected by ADI Design Index for the 2018 Compasso d’Oro candidacy.

The studio has worked with Diemmebi and many other international brands, including Pedrali, Rexite, Lema and Fermob/Vlaemynck.
